Ceramic & Porcelain Tile
Why Choose Ceramic Tile
Ceramic tile is tremendously versatile. At Toma, we have an almost endless variety of materials and finishes. It is durable, affordable, and easy to maintain. Because there are so many finishes and materials, this type of tile is ideally suited to design. And it is not just for the floor – you can get coordinating baseboards, chair rails, and more.
Repels Dirt and Bacteria
Dirt and bacteria don’t stick to ceramic tile as easily as other floorings. With a wet cloth, you can easily clean the surface. Although not as waterproof as porcelain, ceramic tile still makes a great option for bathrooms and kitchens.
Completely Fire Resistant
Installing ceramic tile around a fireplace is completely safe. It’s almost indestructible surface will protect it from burning embers and ashes. At the same time, withstand high temperatures.
Lasts a Lifetime
Even in outdoor conditions, ceramic tile is known to last years. With little to no care, it can look the same for years to come. Additionally, it will not fade from the sun.
Unglazed vs Glazed Ceramic Tile
Glazed ceramic tile has a layer of coating that makes the tile smooth, shiny, and waterproof. There are hundreds of different types of decorative tiles to choose from at Toma Fine Floors. You may see glazed tile as backsplash or tile for a shower. Unglazed ceramic tile is great for flooring because it is slip-resistant. Normally, unglazed tile has its colour run through the entire stone. It’s also scratch resistance which makes it a great choice for areas with lots of traffic.
When choosing a type of tile for your home, porcelain is the longer-lasting type. Its colour runs through the entire stone instead of on the surface. Which in this case, makes chips in the tile less noticeable. For an extra layer of protection, porcelain can have a glazed surface. Porcelain tile is a great option for places like kitchens, hallways, and stairs because it is more durable than ceramic.
Compared to ceramic, porcelain tile absorbs very little moisture making it the optimal choice for bathrooms and kitchens.
Less Prone to Cracking
Porcelain is less prone to cracking and stains. It’s extremely durable surface makes it a great flooring for places with lots of traffic. You may also install porcelain in the exterior of your home or business.
Why Choose Porcelain Tile
Porcelain tile is a type of ceramic that is a lot harder, denser and has more design flexibility. In some cases, porcelain can be mistaken as luxury surfaces such as marble or granite. Like ceramic tile, porcelain can be unglazed or glazed to add colour and protection.
